The first Art Nouveau building in Cherkasy was the women’s gymnasium, constructed between 1903 and 1905 and designed by renowned architect Vladyslav Horodetskyi. The two-storey brick structure reflects strict Neoclassical proportions but features prominent Art Nouveau elements – floral ornamentation, arched windows, and stylized graphics.

Throughout the 20th century, the building served various roles: a school, a wartime hospital, and later a youth center. Since 1985, it has been home to the Cherkasy Center for Children and Youth Creativity, offering numerous creative programs for children of different ages.
