The Shcherbyna House is a significant architectural monument and one of the most iconic buildings in Cherkasy. Built in 1892 in Neo-Renaissance style, it was commissioned by Afanasii Shcherbyna – a local engineer, contractor, and city council member. From 1907 to 1912, the building was leased to the district zemstvo administration. It quickly became one of the most notable structures in the pre-revolutionary town. After 1919, the building served various governmental and party functions. In the 1930s, it became the Pioneers’ Palace.

During the German occupation in WWII, the house was used by the gendarmerie and police. After the war, it returned to political use and later became the Pioneers’ Palace again. Since 1970, it has been home to the city’s Wedding Palace. In 2010, a major renovation project began. A monument to Vasyl Symonenko was installed in the adjacent park the same year. In 2011, the building’s restoration was completed and evening illumination was added to emphasize its elegant façade.
