About Three Wells
Three Wells is a local hydrological nature monument. These are three wooden wells surrounded by willows, whose water is considered to have healing properties. The site is part of the National Historical and Cultural Reserve „Chyhyryn“ and is closely associated with the figure of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. The wells have been preserved almost unchanged since the 17th century, and their water has never dried up, even during the driest years.
There are several legends about the origin of the wells. According to one, they were dug by three Cossacks at the site of a spring where they treated the wounded. Another version says they were made by order of Khmelnytskyi to honor fallen comrades. Today, Three Wells is a popular destination for tourists, pilgrims, and those interested in the history and spiritual heritage of Ukraine.
