About Taras Shevchenko’s „Kobzar“ Museum

On May 19, 1989, as Cherkasy region celebrated the 175th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth, the „Kobzar“ Museum was opened in Cherkasy, in the building at 37 Bohdan Vyshnevetskyi Street, located at the corner of today’s Khreshchatyk and Vyshnevetskyi streets. The museum features over 800 exhibits displayed across three halls.

The museum houses a large collection of the poet’s works, including lifetime editions and later publications, up to the present day. One of the highlights of the exhibition is a recreated memorial room that Shevchenko occupied during his last stay in Cherkasy at the Tsybulsky family’s home.
