
About the Taras Shevchenko Museum
The museum is located on the territory of the Shevchenko National Reserve. Its collection includes over 20,000 unique monuments, including memorial items and etchings of Taras Shevchenko, rare editions of his works, works by Ukrainian and foreign artists, masterpieces of folk art, valuable archival documents, photo and film materials, audio and video recordings of famous bandur players and kobzars.
In a separate hall, a posthumous plaster mask of the Kobzar is exhibited, surrounded by texts from the „Testament“ in different languages of the world. The interactive map „Taras Shevchenko’s Last Journey through Ukraine“ shows the route along which the coffin with the Kobzar’s ashes was transported from St. Petersburg to Kanev. The exposition is equipped with multimedia information kiosks, and various audiovisual programs are available to visitors.
