About the „Soyuz-Bank“ Cooperative Branch Building
In 1895, the village of Dzenzelivka (Uman district) saw the construction of a dedicated building for its local cooperative savings and loan society – the „Soyuz-Bank“ branch. It was the first of its kind in the area and soon became a key driver of local economic progress. The cooperative provided loans for land, livestock, tools, and supported collective purchasing of seed, fertilizer, and equipment.
The bank’s building became a hub of innovation: public meetings were held here, and it facilitated the village’s electrification and first telephone connection. By serving over a hundred nearby communities, the cooperative helped establish Dzenzelivka as a regional center of rural self-governance and development in the early 20th century.
