The Irdyn Vineyard Monastery, founded in the 17th century in the village of Male Starosillia, Cherkasy district, is a remarkable monument of Ukraine’s spiritual heritage. Its name comes from the Irdyn River and the vineyards that once surrounded the monastery. For centuries, it was a center of Orthodoxy and education, surviving Cossack wars and political hardships.

Today, the preserved cave complex with monks’ cells and a small underground church attracts both pilgrims and tourists. Local legends tell of secret passages stretching as far as Cherkasy. Some parts of the caves can be visited with guided tours or pilgrimage groups.
