About Castle Hill
Castle Hill is one of the most iconic elevations in Cherkasy, located in the city center above the bank of the Kremenchuk Reservoir. The site holds significant historical value – in the 14th century, it was home to the first Cherkasy Castle, a key fortress of the southern border of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Archaeological excavations have uncovered remnants of fortifications, pottery, tiles, bullets, and coins from the 16th century. Today, Castle Hill is a popular walking spot offering panoramic views of the Dnipro.
