In the village of Kheylove, Uman District of Cherkasy region there stands a preserved wooden church built in 1880 and consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Lord. According to local accounts, oak trees from a nearby forest were cut down to provide timber for the construction. The first written mention of the parish dates back to 1910, though researchers believe it existed earlier — in the second half of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the church was an important spiritual center of the community: in 1910, it counted more than 400 parishioners. It was consecrated on the Feast of the Ascension.

During the Soviet era, the church lost its four domes and was converted into a club, later used as a grain storage. Restoration began in the early 2000s after Ukraine gained independence. A local legend says that when Kazymyr Dakhovsky owned the village, he set aside a separate area for exiled criminals and immoral people — and that this church was built so they could atone for their sins. Today, the Ascension Church is an active and restored shrine, maintained by the local community and open to visitors. It remains an important historical and cultural landmark of the Cherkasy region.
