On February 13 at 4 p.m., the Cherkasy Regional Art Museum will host the opening of Mykola Babak's solo photo exhibition “Cherry Farm.”

The project aims to preserve rustic historical memory and cultural heritage, which is particularly relevant in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Rural culture is extremely important for Ukraine, as it is a fundamental part of its history and an integral component of the national identity of its citizens. And if in the 20th and early 21st centuries rural culture underwent serious transformations under the influence of global urbanization processes, as well as a result of Russia's imperial policy, now Ukrainian villages are being destroyed by a neighboring barbaric country through the war it has unleashed. In some regions of our country, dozens of villages have been destroyed and are unlikely to be rebuilt. Therefore, this photo project aims to draw the viewer's attention to the Ukrainian village, which was the center of life and where national traditions, language, and culture were formed and preserved.

The project was implemented as part of the Cherkasy Regional Council's program to support the activities of national creative unions in the Cherkasy region.

The photo project was created by Mykola Babak in collaboration with Yevhen Matveev as part of the BM Babak-Matveev art duo.
