About the Monument to the Hero of Mikhail Bulgakov’s Novel „The Master and Margarita“ – Fagot and Behemoth

This artwork was created by the famous Cherkasy sculptor Vladyslav Dymion in 1999. Interestingly, the artist used old radiators as material for the sculpture, demonstrating a creative approach to repurposing materials. Initially, the sculpture adorned the facade of a jewelry store in the city. However, it was later dismantled and stored in a warehouse for over a decade. It was only on July 1, 2015, in honor of Architect’s Day, that the sculpture was restored and installed in its current location, thanks to an initiative by the Regional Department of Urban Planning and Architecture.

A mysterious coincidence occurred on the day the sculpture was installed: about an hour after its placement, a major fire broke out at the Cherkasy Drama Theater. This incident sparked mystical associations with Bulgakov’s characters, known for their supernatural pranks and mischief.
