Звенигородський район розташований у центральній частині Черкаської області, займаючи площу 5278,5 км².
Економічний потенціал краю базується на потужному аграрному секторі. Окрім сільського господарства, район активно розвиває туристичну галузь, спираючись на унікальні історико-культурні об’єкти. Зокрема, тут функціонує Національний заповідник „Батьківщина Тараса Шевченка“, що охоплює села Моринці, Шевченкове, Будище та Вільшана, а також Державний історико-культурний заповідник „Трипільська культура“ в Легедзиному. Важливу роль у сучасному розвитку відіграє і зелений туризм, представлений садибами в Моринцях, які пропонують етнографічні екскурсії та активний відпочинок.
Історія Звенигородщини нерозривно пов’язана з іменами геніїв та борців за незалежність України. Край подарував світові великого поета Тараса Шевченка, академіка-сходознавця Агатангела Кримського, художницю Софію Терещенко та лідера національно-визвольного руху В’ячеслава Чорновола. Саме на цій землі в селі Гусакове зародилося Вільне козацтво, традиції якого продовжував письменник і краєзнавець Михайло Іванченко. Культурна спадщина регіону зберігається у численних музеях, зокрема в літературно-меморіальному музеї Т. Шевченка та садибі-музеї В. Чорновола у Вільховці, що робить район одним із ключових духовних центрів України.

The economic potential of the region is based on a powerful agricultural sector. In addition to agriculture, the district is actively developing its tourism industry, drawing on unique historical and cultural sites. In particular, the “Fatherland of Taras Shevchenko” National Preserve operates here, encompassing the villages of Moryntsi, Shevchenkove, Budyshche, and Vilshana, as well as the “Trypillian Culture” State Historical and Cultural Preserve in Lehedzyne. Green tourism also plays an important role in modern development, represented by homesteads in Moryntsi that offer ethnographic tours and active recreation.
The history of the Zvenyhorodka region is inextricably linked with the names of geniuses and fighters for the independence of Ukraine. The region gave the world the great poet Taras Shevchenko, the Orientalist academician Ahatanhel Krymsky, the artist Sofiya Tereshchenko, and the leader of the national liberation movement Vyacheslav Chornovil. It was on this land, in the village of Husakove, that the Free Cossacks were born, traditions of which were continued by the writer and local historian Mykhailo Ivanchenko. The cultural heritage of the region is preserved in numerous museums, notably the Taras Shevchenko Literary and Memorial Museum and the Vyacheslav Chornovil Estate-Museum in Vilkhovets, making the district one of the key spiritual centers of Ukraine.
