About St. John the Theologian Church
The St. John the Theologian Church in the village of Rohy was founded in 1765 as a Greek Catholic church of St. John Chrysostom by proto-priest Vasyl Kremezovych. In 1768, the church joined Orthodoxy. The original wooden building did not survive, and a new stone church was built in its place in the second half of the 19th century.
In 2005, the Rohy Women’s Monastery was established at the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God „Abbess of Mount Athos“. In 2025, the first prayer in Ukrainian was held in the church, marking an important step in the development of the Ukrainian Orthodox tradition in the region
