The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church is the only Catholic church in Uman, built in 1780. It is a national architectural monument designed in the style of classicism. The temple impresses with its elegance and history, which is closely tied to the city’s cultural and religious heritage. Originally serving as a Catholic sanctuary, the church was officially closed in 1934. In 1974, the building was given a new role when it became an art gallery of the Uman Local History Museum.

Restoration work began in 1998, which helped to restore some of the lost architectural elements. Today, the church serves a dual purpose: during weekdays, it functions as an art gallery, while on weekends it hosts Catholic liturgies. A cross installed on its roof serves as a reminder of its spiritual essence.
