This was one of the most beautiful buildings constructed in the 1880s. Its owner was a local merchant named Belakhov. The first floor housed textile shops rented out to other merchants, while the Belakhov family lived on the second floor. In 1908, the merchant purchased a cinematograph device from France and, with the help of his relatives, screened silent films for the people of Cherkasy.

After the October Revolution, Belakhov’s estate was repurposed to house a youth club and various administrative institutions. Before World War II, the ground floor still operated as shops, while the second floor became the trade administration. Later, it housed the regional cinema distribution office. Today, the building is home to the Cherkasy Regional Organization of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine.
