Kaniv Nature Reserve of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is a nature reserve in Ukraine. It is located in Cherkasy region, near the city of Kaniv, on the right bank and floodplain islands of the Dnieper River. The reserve directly borders Chernecha Hill – the burial site of T. G. Shevchenko. The reserve covers an area of 2027 hectares. It was established on July 30, 1923, based on the Kaniv educational and research forestry enterprise. It is a structural subdivision of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main functions of the reserve are the protection of exemplary and unique natural complexes of the forest-steppe, preservation of biodiversity, and monitoring of natural processes.

Kaniv Nature Reserve is one of the oldest reserves in Ukraine. It was created according to the decree of the Collegium of the People’s Commissariat of Land Management of the Ukrainian SSR on July 30, 1923. Over its history, the area and status of the reserve have changed multiple times. In 1939, it was transferred to the jurisdiction of Kyiv State University named after T. G. Shevchenko.
